Teethinfo - Dental information for patients
Dr. David Hall, the author of
this site, graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in
1979. He began a private dental practice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he
practiced for almost 24 years. In 1985 he began to take a special interest
in cosmetic dentistry, which helped him express the artistic part of his
nature. In 1990, he became one of only about sixty dentists at the time who
were accredited in cosmetic dentistry. For twelve years, he was the only
accredited cosmetic dentist in Iowa. He sold his practice in 2003 and began
spending all his time developing a new publishing company, Mapletree
Publishing Company, dedicated to publishing excellent books that gently
promote religious values.
He became interested in the Internet in 1995,
and began, in the fall of that year, a dental information web site as part
of CompuServe. It was done as a hobby at first. As he learned how to operate
web publishing software and learned about search engines, he turned the site
into a profitable way to promote his own dental practice. He separated
out the business part of his site and launched two sites:
www.mynewsmile.com, which was
designed to promote his dental practice, and
www.davehall.com, which was a personal
family web site where he posted family news, photos, and other personal
items. When he retired
from dental practice, he retained the web sites. He turned
www.mynewsmile.com into a referral
service to help patients find expert cosmetic dentists. He also launched an
internet dental bookstore, which was later named
America's Dental Bookstore.
In 2006, he decided to expand the dental bookstore site into a general
dental information site, providing expert information about all phases of
dental care. He incorporated articles he had written years before as a
service to his patients, and continues to add subjects that he thinks will
be helpful to people.
